Editorial Reviews Apple iPod nano 16 GB Purple (4th Generation) LATEST MODELFrom Apple Computer

Amazon.com Product Description--Posted September 9, 2008 With eight amazing colors, a new curved design, and great new features, iPod nano rocks like never before. The Genius Playlist feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a playlist for you. With its built-in accelerometer, iPod nano is made to move. Give it a shake, and it shuffles to a different song in your library. Turn it on its side to flip through your album art in Cover Flow. And tilt, move, and play accelerometer-inspired games (games available separately). Watching movies, TV shows, and video is even more fun on the sharp 2-inch screen. And your photos (up to 14,000 of them) look great in portrait or landscape view. Available in 8 GB and 16 GB models, the 16 GB iPod nano puts up to 4,000 songs or 16 hours of video in your pocket.

A Musical GeniusSay you're listening to a song you really like and want to hear other tracks that go great with it. The Genius Playlist feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a Genius Playlist for you. It's like having your own highly intelligent, personal DJ.
Find Your Music FasterIt's even easier to find the song you want to hear. Now you can view your album art in Cover Flow. Or just press and hold the Center button to browse by album or artist. When you find the right song, press the Center button to add it to your on-the-go playlist.

Let the Games BeginNow you can get in on games made especially for iPod nano and the accelerometer. They respond to the way you move, so they're immersive, addictive, and a blast. The iPod nano comes with Maze, which lets you work your way through vast mazes by tilting and moving. You can find even more games on the iTunes Store.
Even Your Photos RockPull hundreds of photos from your pocket and share them wherever you go. Hold iPod nano upright and see your photos in portrait view. Customer Reviews Apple iPod nano 16 GB Purple (4th Generation) LATEST MODELFrom Apple Computer

Some nice improvement but incompatible with Bose... Having 16GB of storage is a huge plus for the new version of the Nano. The control wheel seems a bit "stiff" and it is not as responsive as past versions but it works fine. The menus and setup choices have been improved. These are nice but don't make a major difference. "Shake" shuffle is a bit silly (in my opinion it is just as easy to push the advance on the control wheel) but it can easily be turned off. BIG MINUS - Apple un-necessarily changed the plug on this version of the Nano. The unit will not charge using my older iPod chargers. The bigger issue is that my Bose and other expensive speaker units will play this Nano but they won't charge it. Apple is beginning to act more and more like Microsoft - forcing its customers to make un-necessary software upgrades and expensive hardware changes in order to use their latest product versions. Anyway - the Nano is a great product. If you already have a Nano the only justification I can find to upgrade would be the need for more storage or the desire to play video on a very small screen. If you don't need the video or more music storage you should stick with your older Nano.
4th generation of a standard setting device this is my 6th portable digital music device so far, and i tried to avoid ipods because they always got bad reviews for malfunctioning and lacking features. this on is a different story. not only is this ipod the thinnest ipod ever made (you can stop here, apple, any further and it will vanish), its made smart, and so far its a very good buy for me. unlike everyone thinks cover flow cant be turned off, it can. instantly after i connected my ipod to itunes a new firmware update popped up, and one of the updates was an option to turn off cover flow, among other things. + pros -incredibly thin. i cant even tell its in my pocket -aluminum casing and glass screen offer excellent scratch resistence -very light -very competitive pricing - 16 gb for what the nano offers is the most affordble nano ever. the apple reputation has never been so attainable. - accelerometer - this adds a few fun touches to operate without pressing buttons, is very useful for rotation on the screen when viewing pictures or watching videos. games are now actually very interesting - screen clarity -simplicity of use -lots of colours to choose from - cons ITUNES - as usual itunes is very frustrating and needs redesigned. itunes 8 is dependent on quicktime! any quirks at all with it and your back to reinstallation. expect to encounter problems - battery life - below average for me so far, no big deal though. just dont mess around with the thing so much -everything is automated - when i put the headphones in the jack, or disactivate the hold button, it shouldn't automatically turn on. -Apple is NOT doing the 3rd party crap. all apple accessories for ipods here on out must be apple brand or apple certified. depressing... er, then i suppose theres a "both" category -genius- theres something i havent noticed people mention, or if they do, its complaints. Genius is an absolutely worthless feature when used on the ipod. It works with only about 25% of PURCHASES. And it doesn't make a very satisfying playlist even when it does work. But honestly who should expect that? When you use genius on, itunes, yeah it still sucks at making playlists, and it is frustrating, but it's an excellent tool for finding new music, because it reccomends a huge list of new songs and different artists that usually appeal to your taste. overall a big improvement compared to other ipods ive seen. the pricing and compactness, features and ease of use stand out. (get the 16 gb if you really want movies, or go for the classic or touch) i give it ****.
Good Ideas, Poor Execution With introductions like the accelerometer, genius, redesigned interface, and an even smaller package, who couldn't love Apple's new Ipod nano? While these sound like great additions, they really don't result in a better ipod. While the new interface, genius, and size, don't hurt, the accelerometer really ruins the whole package. The accelerometer might work well in the iphone and ipod touch, in the nano it is just really annoying. It is way to sensitive and causes problems with simple things like volume. The accelerometer often changes the now playing screen to the cover flow which keeps the volume from being changed without the ipod being pulled out and flipped. The shake to shuffle also causes problems, it is to sensitive as well and will activate when it is not intended to. At least the shake to shuffle can be turned off, I just wish the the accelerometer as a whole could be turned off. If it had that capacity this review could have easily turned from a 2 to a 5.

Editorial Reviews Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB Black (3rd Generation) LATEST MODELFrom Apple Computer

Amazon.com Product Description The third-generation iPod shuffle is the talk of the music world. Not just because it's incredibly small--half the size of the previous generation. And not just because it holds up to 1,000 songs and supports multiple playlists. It's the talk of the town because it's the only music player in the world that talks to you. The new VoiceOver feature lets iPod shuffle tell you what song is playing and who's performing it. It also tells you the names of your playlists. With VoiceOver--and with the controls conveniently located on the earbud cord--it's even easier to navigate your music. You can do it without taking your eyes off your run, your ride, or whatever you're doing.

The iPod shuffle 3G: The First Music Player That Talks to You
World's Smallest Music Player
Ultra-Compact, Ultra-SleekIts compact, anodized aluminum design is nearly half the size of the previous iPod shuffle and smaller than a AA battery. But don't be fooled by its diminutive nature. It might be small on the outside, but it holds a lot on the inside. With iPod shuffle now available in 4 GB capacity, you can take up to 1,000 songs with you anywhere. And with the controls located where you can quickly access them, it's also easier to use.
Most WearableThe iPod shuffle comes with a brilliant stainless steel clip that lets you securely wear your music no matter where you are. Clip it to your workout gear when you're at the gym. Clip it to your backpack or belt when you're on the go. If you want, you can even clip it out of sight. Whether you're walking, running, cycling, or skiing, you'll always have your favorite songs and playlists with you.
Your Music Library to Go
Store More MusicIt's hard to believe that something so small could carry so much music. But now that the iPod shuffle has 4 GB, you have plenty of room to store up to 1,000 songs. Load up all the music you want, and hit the road for as long as you like. Slide the switch to "Shuffle," and get ready for the most unpredictable ride of your life. Or slide the switch to "Play in Order" to hear your playlists from start to finish.
Multiple PlaylistsYou've probably made multiple playlists in iTunes. You have one for your commute, another one for the gym, and then a few more for just chilling out. Now, with the iPod shuffle 3G, you can sync them all and take them wherever you go. Up to 4 GB gives you plenty of room to hold a playlist for every occasion--which means you'll always have the perfect mix to match your activity or mood. And with VoiceOver telling you the name of each playlist, you can easily switch between them and find the one you want. You also can have audiobooks and podcasts on your iPod shuffle. Audiobooks will be put into separate playlists automatically, and podcast episodes will be grouped together in a Podcasts playlist.

Easy Access ControlsYou'll find controls for the new iPod shuffle in two locations. On the right earbud cord, you'll find the controls that let you interact with your music. And on the top of the iPod shuffle, there's a switch that lets you choose to shuffle, to play your songs in order, or to turn off your iPod shuffle.
Using the Apple Earphones with RemoteAll the controls you need to interact with your music--adjusting volume, changing songs, switching playlists, and hearing song titles and artist names--are built into the Apple Earphones with Remote. You control the iPod shuffle by pressing the top, center, or bottom button on the control. This makes it easy to navigate your music and activate the VoiceOver feature, without taking your eyes off what you're doing.

Customer Reviews Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB Black (3rd Generation) LATEST MODELFrom Apple Computer

Buyer BEWARE! I am a runner and was delighted to receive this ipod 3G as a gift. However, after runnning with it a few times the headset controls locked up. Apparently moisture (from sweating) got into the mechanics of the headset controls and it stopped forwarding songs and adjusting volume. If you check the apple ipod website there are hundreds upon hundreds of complaints from people who exercised with their ipod 3G and the headset controls completely stopped working.
Don't buy it!! I liked it @ 1st. I liked the size which is why I bought another shuffle. Didn't mind the headset controls although they could be annoying. Was very happy with the size. Problem was that headset broke in about 2 weeks! With clicking that headset for all functions I don't see how it would last that long. My old iPod shuffle still works fine but I wanted the ability to create song lists for when I exercise. I guess I'll have to get a Nano now & deal with the size.
Pretty, but dumb design Yes, it looks very, very pretty. Annoyance #1: you can only use the provided (barely acceptable) Apple ear buds to control the device. Forget non-Apple buds or headphones as you won't be able to control the volume or anything else. Annoyance #2: beads of sweat roll down the Apple ear buds onto the control, rendering it useless quickly. Not good if you go running or go to the gym with this thing. Annoyance #3: has a detectable background hiss. Annoyance #4: the older 2nd Gen Shuffle sorted songs alphabetically by artist, this one sorts alphabetically by song title. No more listening to all your Kings of Leon or Beatles songs unless you've created a playlist. Summary: don't buy this if a) you plan to exercise, or b) you don't want to exercise but listen to the iPod using decent (non-Apple) buds or headphones. Don't buy it if you want a really functional and flexible iPod. Buy it if you just want to impress your friends with a cool-looking device. Apple missed the target with this one.

Customer Reviews
So far, so good I read many of the reviews here and I found that the directions about how to use that were provided by Heather Wright were very helpful. I have tested it on my T.V. at home and it works exactly as expected. My hope is to be able to download movies from itunes onto my ipod touch and then take the ipod camping, where we have another t.v. and then we can watch these on rainy days. I am confident, after trying it at home that this will work. The cable we received was not exactly as shown. It also includes a USB attachment on the end where the AV connections are. Not sure how to use this, unless it replaces my other computer/ipod cable, I am sure I will be able to figure it out with a little more research.
Cable works perfectly. I also have an iPod classic and this cable works great to plug it into my receiver for both video and audio. You don't get an on-screen display of the iPod, but all the videos show up perfectly. If you are looking to plug in your iPod to a sound system, don't go for the high-priced docks, buy this cable!
Video Sometimes Works When I first got this, it worked perfectly. After a week or so, the video started working inconsistently. After 3 weeks, the video capability never works. My iPod gives me an error message asking for a video connector when I try to send the AV signal out. It works great for the audio, though.

Customer Reviews Rapid Home Travel Charger (110-240v) with IC Chip for Apple Iphone 3G 2nd Generation, Ipod Nano 4th 2nd Generation, IPod Touch 2ND GenerationFrom Bargaincell

it works and it's cheap Hey what more can I say? It charges my Ipod touch 2nd Gen, and my Nano 4th gen. I don't know what Nano 4th 2nd means.... It's so cheap it comes in a generic box with no label or papers whatsoever. But why spend $25 for apple's charger, when this one works?
WORTH IT!! Works with I Touch 2G! This is worth the 76 cents it costs! It works GREAT and better than the $30dollar ones they sell at best buy. Why? Because the ones at best buy don't allow sound through while you're using it on the charger. THIS one allows sound to play while it's plugged in and being used. I can't begin to say how great of a product this is. I've only used it on an itouch 2G, but it works perfectly!
broken first day charged great. prongs for plug suck.... got stuck in the outlet and broke first time use. now i have a prong stuck in the outlet and a charger thats useless
